Binoculars Introduction

Binoculars Introduction

Binoculars are optical devices that are sort of like two telescopes attached to each other side by side. This allows them to be used at the same time by a single person. The person using the binoculars uses one eye to look into each viewer, thereby making them easier and more comfortable to use.

With telescopes or other single-view optical devices, it can be hard to keep the other eye closed for as long as you need. With binoculars, however, you can keep both eyes open and trained on what you want to watch.

Binoculars often need to be adjusted to view a certain distance so that both eyes will be focused effectively on the same thing. This is usually done via small adjustment controls located right on the binoculars. Binoculars may be tiny, giving a small amount of magnification to aid you in viewing not-so-distant objects, or they might be very powerful, enabling you to see for extremely long distances.

Usually, the bigger the binoculars, the more power they have, though this is not always true. Some higher end binoculars are smaller, but give you much more magnification for their size than even great big ones.

You can buy binoculars at just about any sporting goods store, and you can also order them online. A lot of mail order catalogs also sell binoculars along with other sporting equipment. Binoculars are used by people for all sorts of things.

They are used for hunting, hiking, nature viewing, bird watching, and even for viewing the skies at night. In fact, if you look at the stars through powerful binoculars, you will actually see more stars than you can with the naked eye.
