What is a plaster?

What is a plaster?

A plaster a piece of plastic or textile that sticks, with an absorbent and protective piece of fabric on it to apply to the wound. A plaster is used to cover a wound and to protect it against new damage, and so prevent dirt from entering it. Plasters are a regular part of a good first aid set. You can buy plaster ready-made, or on a roll / per sheet and cut to size.

Types of plaster
There are different types of plasters, each specially developed for specific applications. The 'normal plaster' described by most people is also known as the adhesive plaster, which can be pasted over a wound. In addition, we also have, for example, the wound plaster, pull plaster, wound suture strip and plasters with specific substances in them, for example to prevent inflammation.
